[LGBT Interview] Baby.K AKA B.K - Rapper

Baby.K AKA B.K

EvOn: What's Good?

B.K: Hey “E” how you doing, but I’m good.

EvOn: Can you give us a quick introduction of yourself for our visitors?

B.K: It’s the one and only Baby K. aka B.K. coming straight out of Georgia. One thing you all should know about me is that I am a Producer 1st and a Rapper 2nd but whichever one I’m doing I’m going to give you all my best work.

EvOn: So what's happening with you & the music at the moment?

B.K: Right now I am currently producing one of my new artist M.Me, he’s a straight male artist. I will be posting some of his music on my myspace page in the next month so you all can check him out. Also, my second Album “Maximum Overhyped” should be coming out by the end of this year, but no set date yet.

EvOn: Are there any plans for any Collabs anytime soon?

B.K: Of course, you know me and you got to do a collaboration. I definitely trying to do some collabs with some of the best rappers the world got to offer. I’m currently on a few collabs with artist from Florida and Louisiana.

EvOn: When people check out ya music What has the response been like so far?

B.K: I always love getting feedback from other people perspectives. One comment that I’ve gotten a lot is that my music is different from other artist.

EvOn: what inspires you to make ya tracks?

B.K: My inspiration is knowing that God gave me this talent for a reason, so I should use it. Also my family inspires me by supporting me and of course my fans.

EvOn: what's the Gay hip hop scene like in the US?

B.K: The Gay scene in the U.S. has a lot of division; I think if we come together we can take over the mainstream music world.

EvOn: How Hard is it to make it in this industry as a female Rapper, and is being Gay important to sale your music or should you keep ya sexuality to your selfs?

B.K: Looking at the pass, I’ve been doing this for 9 years now; I’ve learned that the industry is a male dominated place that’s not focus on talents of female artist but more on sex appeal. In 2005 one label wouldn’t sign me until I lost 20lbs, I was currently 145lbs at the time, and I could only dress feminine. Also when I was sign to Iron House records in 2008 we was just getting a distribution deal with Universal records, they wanted me to be there main artist so when the guy from universal met with my label CEO the first thing he said was, “how she look, and is she a dyke because the label isn’t try to push any lesbians.”

EvOn: Are there any other artists from the US/UK or from the gay scene that we should be looking out for right now?

B.K: Wow, too many to name myself included, I’m not a hater so I definitely be checking out other female lesbian artists, but right now we should be looking out for a lot of artists. You already know the UK hottest female artist is Evon.

EvOn: If you wasn't making music what do you think you would be doing right now?

B.K: I would probably be at some ivy league college playing basketball or softball, I got skills in that too.lol

EvOn: How important do you think it is for new artist’s to know their history and appreciate the different elements of Hip-hop even if they don’t partake in them?

B.K: I always say, “you never know where you’re going, if you don’t know where you came from,” same with music.

EvOn: any final words / shoutouts before we finish?

B.K: Yeah, thanks for having me…
Also shout out to all my fans…I do it because of you.
