So what does it really mean to be a UK Emcee/MC?

Rapping, Drum&Bass Mcing, Grime MCing are all basically the same thing; someone on the mic with something to say (not to mention making a beat sound hot so the listener can be like “Tuuuune”). But when I read the title “UK Hip-Hop Vs UK Grime” back I find myself thinking; should we even be comparing the two genres? They both seem to be very different in style and sound, plus both serve the same purpose of creating a movement for the youth so why compare?

Music is always evolving and it just so happens that UK Hip-Hop seems to be in that “Old skool” category while Grime is the "New skool" sound Of UK Hip-Hop. It’s the only music that seem to reflect the 'true picture' of the UK street culture! It seems the fans of grime think that UK Rappers try to be too much like the Americans, and the fans of UK Hip-Hop think that grime lacks depth and understanding of what being a 'True Emcee/MC' is all about! But regardless of being a UK Rapper or a UK Grime MC one thing they have in common is that it all evolves from hip-hop, and hip-hop is American. So it's inevitable that a UK Rapper will be have an American influence. There are a lot of UK Rappers that don’t rap in an American accent, its just that the youth of today don’t seem to relate to UK Hip-Hop like they used to back in the day’s. Again music has evolved! Jimmiimontana: EVERYONE From Old Folk 2 Young Children Love It. They All Can Relate.

EvOn: what inspires you to make ya tracks?
Jimmiimontana: ANY AND EVERYTHING! From gunshot sounds to seeing the sunshine on a sunday morning.

EvOn: what's the Gay hip hop scene like in the US?
Jimmiimontana: Not Very BIG. We Are Underground. The World Let Alone The US Isnt Ready For All That... Lol... OH WELL!!!! Lol

EvOn: How Hard is it to make it in this industry as a female Rapper, and is being Gay important to sale your music or should you keep ya sexuality to your selfs?

EvOn: How important do you think it is for new artist’s to know their history and appreciate the different elements of Hiphop even if they don’t partake in them?
Jimmiimontana: Gotta Know Where Yu Came From In Order To Get Where Your Going. If You Dnt Acknowledge The People That Came before you... How Can You Call Yourself A Fan Of HipHop?
