[LGBT Interview] Vibe Hott - Rapper/Producer

Because Your Favourite British Rapper said so....

EvOn: What's Good?
LIFE! My father just passed yesterday, along with several other people I know in the past two months. Life is fragile, the soul is everpresent. So, I'm focused on that.

EvOn: Can you give us a quick introduction of yourself for our visitors?
VIBE HOTT the illist lyricist Wordsmith! I'm rippin' these rhymes up like they sniffin' dope lines up! I spytt it how I live it! I was born in Baltimore, MD...but I grew up all over the mid-east coast of the US. Brooklyn, NY...different parts of PA, VA and I even lived in Hollywood CA! I have a Bachelor's Degree in Media Communications, I produce film, music, photography, I'm a painter and an artist over all. I'm very multi-faceted and I refuse to be boxed in... that's no way to live life to the fullest! In the words of Rocko "I keep it turned UP to the MAXX... Live every day like it's your LAST!"

EvOn: So what's happening with you & the music at the moment?
I have been in the studio Hard Body! I do work a day job, so by the time I get home I'm nearly foaming at the mouth to make a song! I have so many racked up in the chamber that it's about time to release an album or two! This will be my 3rd album coming out~ "Phoenix Arizing" is the title so look out for it! Also, check out my music on i-tunes, napster, rhapsody, cdbaby, amystreet or any other music site!

EvOn: Are there any plans for any Collabs anytime soon?
I'd love to collab with Kanye and Jadakiss... I have some beats that I know they would murder for sure! No salt at all...but if Kanye sponsored Kid Sister... (need I say more...)

EvOn: When people check out ya music What has the response been like so far?
The fans are phenomenal! I just did a show Friday and the crowd was going wild! Singing along to the lyrics, taking flicks with me after the show! It was all love! I'm looking forward to the next one! My neighbors always hear me pull up with the top down bumpin' my latest and greatest so they force me to leak the new jointz before they are even made public!

EvOn: what inspires you to make ya tracks?
Once again, Life! Everyones common denominator... Life... we all go through it. Ups and Downs, trials and tribulations... I have had an interesting one thus far, and I get the feeling that isn't going to change, so I will just keep telling the world my story like the Young Griot that I am! I also make party songs because I love to dance and have fun! Sometimes you just gotta throw your worries to the wind and have a club night with the homies!

EvOn: what's the Gay hip hop scene like in the US?
The show on Friday was hosted by Ladeez In The Lyfe Ent. and they did a fabulous job. The venue was lovely, nice mellow mood. Everyone had a positive vibe... so that was kool. People just really seem to appreciate the art of putting these words and sounds together in a hip-hop fashion, so I'll say it's allllll gooooood!!! :)

Do Ya Day - VIBE HOTT

EvOn: How Hard is it to make it in this industry as a female Rapper, and is being Gay important to sale your music or should you keep ya sexuality to your selfs?

I don't know what other "gays/ lesbians" would or should do... I personally don't classify myself, as I mentioned earlier boxes aren't my fancy... so I steer clear of them. I do what I do when I do it... free to be me...V.i.B.E. But I don't keep anything I do a secret... anyone who listens to my various songs would have no trouble putting all the pieces to the puzzle together. Let Amber Rose be a prime example! As far as being taken seriously as a female rapper... it is difficult until they hear me. Which is why I am always prepared to rap on command. That usually clears everything up. The industry is a different kind of monster because you have a small hand full of people deciding who really gets to be major and who does not. Female rappers are easily overlooked, so I guess I just have to make sure there's no way to look past me, right?

EvOn: Are there any other artists from the US/UK or from the gay scene that we should be looking out for right now?
Look out for Soull F. Icon reppin' the BK all Day! Let the DWEEBS Splash in! She is also a Wordsmith and a fashion designer along with her twin sis Dynasty Fresh!

EvOn: If you wasn't making music what do you think you would be doing right now? Probably photography, it may be my second greatest passion. I love to capture images.

EvOn: How important do you think it is for new artist’s to know their history and appreciate the different elements of Hiphop even if they don’t partake in them?
I personally think that music is an expression of self, it is nice to appreciate what came before you, but I don't feel that it is absolutely necessary. It is easier to be unique when not always looking to the past to recreate history. I'm not only a Hip-Hop head, I listen to many genres of music and they are expressed in my music because the music that has been a part of my life brings out emotions... and that makes for some of the most intense, beautiful musik!

EvOn: any final words / shoutouts before we finish?
Let me give a shout out to my Dad, R.I.P, I appreciate the support of my loved ones... Jah-I-Witness Emcee, Soull F., Miss Mysha my Corporate Liason-NYC, and all the fans and supporters!
VIBE HOTT WILL MAKE IT TO THE TOP JUST WATCH!!!

keep givin the peeps the good music.

  1. I loved the interview.
It surely gave some insight into the mind of a lesbian rapper, and this surely gave me some inspiration.
I always say that we have some of the most talented people in the lgbt, and once again I stand correct.
Look at this goddess, she is a prime example of the words that I speak.

Keep doing what you do Evon, and by all means keep bringing our people and their talents to the forefront.

    Much love
